Coastal Civic Report

Write for us

Coastal Civic Report welcomes original pitches that help readers understand the shared places and public choices of coastal life. A strong proposal has one clear question, a defined reader and a useful idea that can stand without invented statistics or unsupported claims.

What we welcome

We consider explanatory pieces, comparisons, background features and practical observation about shore access, waterfront places, coastal care, public decisions and coastal memory. Keep the focus specific: a useful distinction or a small set of choices is usually stronger than a broad tour of everything coastal.

What makes a good pitch

Tell us the working idea, why it matters to a general reader and what the piece would help them notice or decide. Mention the kinds of sources or examples you would use, and flag any uncertainty or local variation. We do not accept fabricated experience, unattributed borrowed work or claims that require specialist advice to make safe.

Send a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option, then outline your pitch in the message field. A proposal is not a commission, and we may ask for changes before considering a draft. Please do not send confidential material or assume that an idea has been accepted until a clear agreement is made.

Our point of view

A coast is more than a view

It is a place people pass through, return to and share. We pay attention to the choices that make those encounters possible.
